Working from home is great until it isn’t. At some point the kitchen table stops feeling like an office and you need a change of scenery. If you are in Pleasant Grove, American Fork, Lindon or Orem, Onoh’s Malasada Co is an easy place to set up for a few hours.
What makes a good work spot
Most people want the same short list: reliable Wi-Fi, a seat that is not in the way, decent coffee and food that is better than a granola bar. Here is how Onoh’s stacks up.
- Free Wi-Fi. No purchase code to hunt down.
- Seating. Tables plus counter seating at the bar if you just need a spot for your laptop.
- A clean, bright space. Good light for video calls and a room that is easy to spend a morning in.
- Opens at 8am. Monday through Saturday.
Coffee that keeps up
Drip coffee and Americanos start at $3.00, lattes and cappuccinos at $4.50, and the Nutella latte is $6.00. Everything comes hot or iced. If coffee is not your thing, there are island energy drinks and hand-crafted lemonades made at the counter.
Breakfast, lunch and a mid-afternoon reset
The food is where Onoh’s pulls ahead of a typical coffee stop. Breakfast sandwiches are cooked to order on a fresh malasada bun: bacon, sausage, Spam or ham with egg for $7.45, or egg and cheese for $5.95. They are served all day, so a late start still gets breakfast.
If you are staying through lunch, the malasada bun sandwiches and burgers are there too: Kalua pork, B.B.Q. chicken, Southwest chicken and more. And when the 3pm slump hits, a hot sugared malasada ($2.45) fixes a lot.
A few tips
- Order ahead online if you are heading in for a call and do not want to wait in line.
- Bring headphones. It is a working restaurant, not a library.
