Rooted in both Hawaiian and Portuguese influences, the name “Onoh’s Malasadas” is the perfect description of the fried dough taking Utah by storm. OUR STORY

For 75 years, founder Sophia Bussio’s family have been happily eating malasadas. Her grandfather began a life long love with the Pacific Islands, especially Hawaii, and shared that love and respect with his children and grandchildren. Malasadas were always a beloved part of that experience. In 2021, Sophie wanted to share this deliciousness with a new generation. In collaboration with a Hawaiian native to refine the concept, Sophie brought that magic to Utah. Inspired and excited, she dove headfirst into the world of fried dough and soon after, Onoh’s Malasada Co. was born, bringing the best Portuguese & Hawaiian inspired food to new tasters!

OUR NAME

Onoh’s is a blend of cultures we love. In Hawaiian, ‘ono means ‘delicious.’ In Portuguese, malasada means ‘bad dough.’ Put them together and you get something perfectly contradictory. Delicious ‘bad dough.
